Hi folks. My name is Matthew Balaun. I'm a 46 year old father of a wonderful young daughter. I'm also in need of a replacement kidney.



I was born with polycystic kidney disease, which is the same disease that ultimately led to my mother's death when she was 46. I was diagnosed with the disease in my early 20s. I've done everything I could to slow the progression of the disease, but there is no cure and the only real treatment is transplant.

It is a hell of a thing to have to ask, but if any of you are willing to consider being a living kidney donor, it would mean the world to me. You would literally be saving my life.

Does Donating Cost Me Anything? - There is no financial cost to you as the organ donor.

Does My Geographic Location Matter? - Not really. You can be a donor candidate from anywhere. Finding a match is the hard part. Any transportation or logistics concerns will be addressed as they come up.

Does Blood Type Matter? - Sort of, but it's not the main consideration in finding a match, and there are paired donations for helping find matches indirectly. If you're willing to donate, please don't let blood type hold you back.

The Screening Survey Said I'm Not A Candidate. Can I Still Help? - Yes! You can help raise awareness and visibility by sharing this page on your own social media. I am working on getting some other methods together as well.
